Looking Ahead Dates

September 20-24: IHM Book Swap. Students can bring in gently used books (board books, picture books, chapter books, all genres) for a swap in order to have new reading materials at home. Collection bins will be available in the hallways with students selecting a “new to them” book at the end of the week.

September 22: It’s National Ice Cream Cone Day. Thanks to the HSA  for funding a “Miss Twist Ice Cream Treat” for all IHM students and faculty. Students will visit the Miss Twist truck on campus throughout the afternoon. We will have popsicles available for all students who are unable to have ice cream. Additionally, Pizza Friday order forms and money are due today. Finally, there is an in-person Archdiocesan High School Fair at Immaculate Conception School beginning at 6:00 pm, and it is open to all middle school students.

September 24: Early dismissal for students at 12:15pm due to professional development for teachers from 1-3 pm. All students eat lunch in homerooms.

September 30: The engraved brick campaign for placement around the IHM Peace Pole ends today.

Important Dates: October 2021

October 1: Blessing of the Pets at the conclusion of Mass in celebration of the
Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi. Students can bring in a picture of their pet or
favorite animal to be blessed. Pizza Friday begins today.

October 7: Living Rosary in honor of the Feast of the Holy Rosary at 10:00 am
on IHM front parking lot (weather permitting). Dedication and blessing
ceremony of the Mary statue from IND.

October 8: No school for students due to Archdiocese of Baltimore Professional
Development Day. Father’s Club annual Golf Tournament at The Woodlands. It
is also the half-way point of Trimester 1 with interim reports being sent next

October 10: HSA sponsored Fall Fest from 1 - 4 pm in the back grass at IHM.
The HSA will provide additional information closer to the event.

October 12: Sign up links for parent/teacher conferences released via email.
Conferences will be held the afternoon of October 29 and throughout the day
on November 1. Interim reports will be sent today via email in grades 3-8, and
via paper copy in kindergarten through grade 2.

October 13: Individual School Pictures from Lifetouch Photographers. ALL
students in grades 1-8 will wear their regular IHM uniform. If you have PE on
this day, you may wear your tennis shoes in place of your regular school shoes.
Students in prek and kindergarten will wear their IHM PE uniforms for
pictures. Ordering will be electronic and more information will be provided by

October 14/15: Muffins in the Morning. While we would like to host a special
adult/child breakfast event in our school gym, we continue to be mindful of
Covid. In lieu of an event at school, all students will come home with a
pre-packaged muffin treat to enjoy with someone special at home PRIOR to
coming to school on October 15. More details about how to enjoy this special
time together at home will be provided closer to the event.

October 15: At the conclusion of the weekly 9:00 am Mass, 7th and 8th
students will be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society, Immaculate
Heart of Mary chapter. Students who were accepted were informed on October
1. Family members of inductees are invited to mass and the ceremony - there
will be designated pews for family members to sit. The mass and ceremony will
also be live streamed via the parish YouTube channel.

October 21 - 27: 4th Annual IHM Pumpkin Parade with all proceeds benefiting
students of IHM. Families will be invited to create “no-carve” pumpkins that
will be entered into raffles. Pumpkins can be real or craft, but can not be
cut/carved/pierced at all. They can be decorated in any manner (paint, glue,
glitter, fabric, accessories, etc) as long the theme/style/representation is
appropriate for school with students from age three to fourteen. Raffle tickets
for the pumpkins will be sold for one ticket for $1, six tickets for $5 or twelve
tickets for $10. Directions for entering the Pumpkin Parade and ticket ordering
information will be sent via email.

October 28: Halloween add-on day to uniforms. Students will be permitted to
wear their IHM gym shorts/sweatpants along with IHM PE/gym
shirt/sweatshirts. Students may ADD-ON Halloween accessories. Accessories
include Halloween necklaces, glasses, bracelets, earrings, headbands, socks,
tights, scarves. No make-up, nail polish, hair dye, wigs, hats, masks or other
Halloween clothing. Halloween parties will be scheduled with homeroom
teachers for one hour during the school day and will include a pre-packaged
snack, game and small craft.

October 29: Early dismissal for students at 12:15 pm; All students eat lunch in
homerooms and there is NO Pizza Friday. At weekly mass, IHM will celebrate
Sister Miriam Elizabeth’s 50th anniversary of the profession of her vows.
Parent/teacher conferences are held virtually from 1:00 - 3:15 pm.
